Article rédigé par les élèves ayant participé Green Maps are locally created maps that chart the natural and cultural environment. Using adaptable tools and shared visual language of Green Map Icons to highlight green living resources. a Green Mapping experience Curry Taylor, Veronica Castillo Long way to go but we are progressing on a path and everyone is doing his or her job. The environmental conditions are not helpful but still trying our best. Walking through the cold, muddy, wet, chirping bird sounds and normal nature surrounding us. As we look to our left and right we see many special trees, tall but not fat. Our team #7 sticking together having laughs but still learning that nature is interesting, still on our journey seeing many spring blossoms and pines. Leaves are very big and wet. We are finally getting closer to walking in bigger open spaces. We are tripping over trunks and branches, mapping many Green Mapping symbols. Our team leader, Mrs. Blyth provided our team with nice, warm clothes, because we didn’t really come prepared. Now staring at the Fly-over zone, seeing tree trunks and different path roads. The path we are on now is very tiny and we have to walk in an ordinary line. Looking at ingenious plants and noting all the different kinds of natural plants and flowers. We are at the point were we find significant habitats seeing huge slugs, birds and many living animals that can live in or around the trees. Our team is still going strong but feel a bit tired and hungry. As we look up, we see a bunch of cows and here the melodical sound of the river. And then, a dry spot and (finally) open lands. We are finding more positive thoughts in our journey. Mrs. Blyth keeps us going with a wide and happy spirit. Continuing down a muddy hill we see a beaver damn. We keep walking and we find beautiful roses in all different colors. We are now still moving on but a bit longer to go, becoming a bit warmer. Our group is becoming stronger as we are getting closer to lunch. We start seeing beautiful sites with a huge pond, we pay attention to the fact that at night you can star gaze. The paths are nice and dry to walk on. About 10 minutes to go, gorgeous views, flowers, lily pads, green plants, trees and especially since the sun is out. We finished our tour and site watching; we have worked together as a team thanks to Mrs. Blyth. Members of our team accomplished their goals, Erika got through her hands being cold and worked hard at mapping. Heidi kept control of where we were going and led us in the right direction. Veronica got through with her shoes and the mud including how she felt. Jordan got great pictures especially of the cows. Andreas kept the spirit and fun in our team. It was a fun day, we learned and had a lot of interest in today’s field trip. Maha Bin Mussallam, Dallas Moqhali, Sami Tarbush, Idrissa Coulibaly, Julan Nyagiera, Zhen Xu It was a cold rainy day, at the end of May. We arrived early morning at the Arboretum in order to make a Green Map. As we arrived, we were divided into groups and were given maps and a trail to walk on. As we walked we marked icons on the map, photographers took pictures of the views and we, the journalists, took notes of what we saw. In our walk we saw rivers, wetlands, great views, birds, bridges, flower, trees, mountains, nature’s beauty. We also saw houses, a water dam. In this excursion, we learned about nature’s beauty and why it must be preserved. At times it can be risky and we must be cautious of it. We learned that as it rains water insects, such as snails, and slugs come out, and birds hide in trees. We liked the trip, but we thought it was a bit tiring, cold and muddy! Charlotte Van Rietschoten, Lodewijk Dekker : Aubonne Arboretum, a Green Mapping experience. We were trying to look at the environment and look at all the surroundings. We saw loads of rivers and wetland. The forest was all muddy, because it had rained in the night. We saw some different species and trees. But the main thing of the field trip was to Green Map. The mappers of this field trip had to help our team a little by putting stickers on the map, and telling the team where to go. The journalists, who were here had to write an entry about this place.
